Moving to Victoria!
As the title suggests, due to a new job offering I'll be leaving my home town in SA and moving to south west victoria! While we didn't pass through any quarantine checkpoints on our first trip over there, we passed many signs stating we weren't to bring any fruit in. What are the quarantine restrictions and how do they apply to my trees?

Re: Moving to Victoria!
I have sent a number of trees to Melbourne from WA without any problems, so I think you should be OK, just check with their Quarantine people

Thanks guys, I might give the number in that link a call. None of them have fruit or anything, but if it's gonna be too much hassle I may just have to start again. Most of them are only tiny and a long way from becoming bonsai

Re: Moving to Victoria!
Shouldn't be that much of a hassle
... we moved back and forth between Adel and Melb numerous times, and each time mum had a trailer load of potted plants! More a concern if you're migrating to a fruit or wine growing district and your bonsai are diseased with something contractable. Give em a spray with confidor or something before you leave if you're concerned
I think you are in more danger of picking up a nasty accent, or a sporting team allegiance
Good luck with the move!

Haha, I reckon VB tastes like cat piss, so I should be right there! Thanks cre8iv, I'll do that. We're moving to a dairy area (new job is on a dairy farm) so should be right with that

Re: Moving to Victoria!
No problem moving plants into Victoria from SA. We already have all the pests, weeds and diseases you have.
Fruit restrictions and checkpoints only apply to M.I.A. fruit growing area around Mildura and along the river a bit and only applies to fruit that may carry fruitfly. I'm pretty sure the checkpoints are well in SA for that area because it covers part of SA as well as Vic and NSW. I don't think there are checkpoints further south.
