Thanks Jason

Also Thank you to all the people who have contacted me privately or through Facebook messages -
Your kindness is much appreciated.

I've been unwell (to varying degrees) for around 8 years. In 2004 my wife and i were in southern Africa for a few months doing Aid work -
It was there that I acquired a group of 4 infections (doctors have been able to trace the origin of the bacteria through DNA testing to Africa) These infections were undiagnosed until just last year and have caused me to be unwell for those years until now, and will have ramifications into the future also.

I have been seeking treatment for the infections since October 2013, which has been going very well. To date 3 of the 4 infections are now cleared. Treatment is basically Chemotherapy but with medications that are not radiative. The best estimates is that if I can continue treatment and complete it I should be infection free before this time next year. Then will need to move onto assessing and rebuilding my immune system (to whatever degree possible)

As mentioned above the treatment is costly due to the AMA and Government ruling so far on the Borrelia (Lyme) Bacteria no being endemic to Australia - therefore to date the medications needed for treatment are often not Medicare or PBS granted or in most cases not manufactured in Australia at all. So with Medications having to be imported from overseas it can be tricky and costly as well as seeing the right specialist infectious doctors. None of which can be claimed on health or superannuation etc insurance either.

Important to note that I'm not complaining - after being to other parts of the world Australia has a very goof medical system. I just have fallen through a bureaucratic crack that I am pleased to say has come some way to be starting to be closed in the last 2 years. I've been involved with research, governmental panels, awareness and talks to help the process as I can.

The Auction and Fundraiser have been organised by my family who have been a great support and help over these years of sickness. Thanks to those here in the Ausbonsai community who have already bid on items, are coming to the event, given financially or who have send there best wishes or good lucks. I and my family appreciate the support and care more than I can put into words.
