Hi Troke-Dast,

If you have $200-$300, if I was in your position I would do one of two things or even combine the two.

I would buy multiple trees, that way you don't put all your eggs into one basket. If you bought one tree and it perished, it might have the opposite effect. With buying a few $30-$40 trees, you will have a variety and if one was lost, you still have the others.

If you are just starting out in Bonsai, rather than invest in stock, perhaps invest in knowledge and do a course in Bonsai with some of the people who run courses in Melbourne. As your knowledge develops over the years, ones taste evolves as well.

Only you yourself know what you should do and go with your gut feeling.
