Re: New Seiju
Thats the same tree, i just did a quick photoshop virt on it.
Thanks Pup, i think this tree will make a great Bonsai in about 5 odd years, depending how quickly i can grow a new head on it. Though I have also heard that they can be slow.
This tree waspurchased from Bonsai Art in melbourne
Thanks for the replies,

Thats a great virtual Jarrod.
Give it to it full throttle!
Over a number of years of course...LOL

Whilst walking through the forest of Bonsai Myths, I found a single small tree.
From it I learned all I needed to know.

Re: New Seiju
I would go for something like this
Mine has proved to be a fast grower with a branch thickening up from a new shoot in one year.
It needs all new branches this year so we will see
Cuttings seem to be very easy maybe that is why they are getting so poular with the nurseries?
Oh plenty of Sun is the trick Jarrod. I treat mine like a pine and it loves it. I had it out in full sun almost all last summer.
But then it would look like mine.

Re: New Seiju
Thats the other option Bretts but I think the trunk lends itself to a slightly bigger tree.
its about 3.5 inches across at soil level.
Thanks Tech, I'm pretty sure thats the direction I am heading

Re: New Seiju
jezz nice material, squat and macho or tall and elegant, both would make a lovely tree. subjective to the beholders eye. i think your idea of the 3 trunks is great but looks young in its present guise. if the branches on the trunks are drawn with a little more up, down, up again on a more lateral plain the tree will depict more age. just my 2 bob.

Re: New Seiju
Thanks Jamie, I am layering the to off, it will be a great shohin broom, then the rest will make a tree about 2/3 the current size.
I know shohin is all the craze but i want something a bit more substantial

Re: New Seiju
two for the price of one. even better. 2/3 of the way up was what i was thinking for a final image size. i would do a virt but my skills in the department are lacking. plus the quality program to do it properly.
the broom style shohin will come up well too.
you could probably do 2 air layers on this one to get to where you want it. with the new leader growth for taper you will need to cut back a far bit.
