Ongoing Pine workshop

Post by PeterH »

After the first of a series of 4 workshops on pines with the club by Grant , I went home and put the ideas I learnt into practice on my 1st Pine I had bought in 1999. This Pine has been through all my phases of Bonsai, so I call it my practice tree when it comes to pines.

I may post the workshop tree as well when it has had a bit more work on it.

Regards

Peter

Hi Pete,

Great job with the styling.

I would prefer the use of copper wire to neaten the job but I know not many people have swapped to copper yet; mostly for reasons of cost(having to buy and maintain 2 lots of wire).

Now some light feeding going into winter; then spring feeding; then decandling and needle plucking in mid November etc.

Nice tree! I love the silhouette!

I'm very much looking forward to working on my big pine with Grant at Bonsai by the harbour!

Fantastic tree. Job well done!
I ask lots of questions that sound like suggestions. Please remember I am a inquisitive newbie trying to figure out why You made a particular decision, in order to learn.

Thanks Grant and Kez,

Grant,

As an electrician I did use copper in my early days because it was free. Lately I have been looking at some sources of copper but it is a bit more expensive.

Kez,

You and your tree will be in good hands as Grant has much knowledge to pass on.

Regards,

Peter

PS Thanks Neli.

We just did the second of 3 Advanced Pine workshops yesterday and the stock once again was quite good and varied; from advanced nursery stock to 35 year + bonsai under 30cms.
