Pine virgin, please help...

Post by Raymond »

I have my eye on a couple of pines that I am trying to obtain permission to collect. If said permission is granted(I'm confident it will be), when should I collect said Pines. Do I collect first, or branch/trunk chop whilst still in the ground. They are a bit over 1m tall, I do believe they are Radiata.

I have pulled them out bare rooted and had them survive but suggest digging a rootball is best.

I have pulled up radiatas during winter with 100% survival so far. I think any time over cooler months so now to late spring should be ok. You should be able to cut them back and dig them up in one operation.
