easy watering
not sure if this is going to make any sense with regard to best practice-----had a couple of ports
which tend to start me musing------I use a different soil mix according to the needs of each species that allows for watering everything at one time-If I water ,everything gets watered-with a maximum of one watering per day--plants that need more water I use a less free draining mix(flowering Quince)and for others I change the mix according to how much water they need--this way I can water everything once a day max in summer and reduce to once every 4 or 5 days or so in winter--I also position the plants with regard to sun and wind exposure to help this system --this is purely a practical lifestyle choice because other things need doing-not sure if each individual species is best served by this method but at the moment there is much else to do

Re: easy watering
Whilst I've not got to the point of having certain mixes, I do position my plants around my area depending on their size, and water needs. So a smaller spot will be tucked away where it will get morning sun, but then will be covered in the shade of another pot, that can handle the heat of the arvo.
I've also positioned a lot of my pots, so that when I water, the run off from one will trickle into the next pot, saving on a little water too... not much, but better then nothing

Re: easy watering
I just let my watering system do them all once a day in summer, and every second day thru winter. My smaller pots and Nursery area get another shot in the afternoon thru summer
Every one of my trees is in the same inorganic mix regardless of type, size and location.
