Grow Box Soil Mix

Post by rudy »

HI,

I have been building a grow box and finally getting it finished. It will hold Radiatas. I need to plant these in September as I do not want them in pots for another year.

My question is. What sort of commercial soil should I use. I have bags of manure: chicken, sheep, cow, garden soil, compost, mushroom compost all of which i can mix into the dirt.

Is landscape mix okay to use and mix the above into. Should have a mixture of mushroom compost and normal dirt. Hopefully if the weather holds up i can make the last mods to the grow box this weekend and get some dirt in the following week.

Is one month enough to let it settle with the manures etc before i bury the Radiatas in it.

Also can Radiatas be planted later than Sep.

Any help would be appreciated as I finally want to finish this ongoing project.

Regards
Rudy

It will be better if you have compost soil but rather than if you are looking for best solution then here I would like to introduce about coco peat - It's an organic soil for better garden vegetables and plant growth.

It is mainly used for garden soil to improve its quality and water retention capacity. It is generally mixed with lower quality garden soil which helps to maintain the required pH, salt for an appropriate growth of vegetables and plants.

I spoke to a successful grower of pines and swamp cypress amongst other plants who studied under the koreshoffs. He grew all of his propagated plants in blue metal of 20mm down to fines with dynamic lifter as fertiliser in raised beds with the trunks buried slightly and has produced some awesome trees. This is something I plan to do with some of my trees in development soon.
