I ask lots of questions that sound like suggestions. Please remember I am a inquisitive newbie trying to figure out why You made a particular decision, in order to learn.

I have tried several options when I designed it. One of them a cascade and the other slanting informal upright.
It will all depend on how it grows in the future.
Probably it will be like this.
bNJ 2.png
The thick branch on the left was totally unsuitable for styling in such short period of time so I chopped it.
The lower branch on the right , has just two small tiffs at the end, and large bare area before that. So for now it stays...unless a miracle happens.
Priority for now is to bring the foliage closer to the trunk, and that being needle juniper will not be easy, combined with the fact that I have to create pads...which I have been trying to find out how is done..
I shortened the new growth while leaving some new growth at the end, but one branch died. So I need to be more careful in future.
I have never styled a needle juniper before so any suggestions regarding its help will be appreciated.
For now it needs to grow, so I can create the upper branches.
Not an easy material to style for a newbie. But this is the way to learn.
So far I wired the trunks and the two lower branches. The trunk will be shifted /tilted slightly to the right.
Plan to be brave and make a shari and a jin.
It does not look like much at the moment but the plan is there. Lets hope I will manage.

Hi Neli, I think you will find that your tree is Juniperus conferta - Shore Juniper. They can be made into nice bonsai, it is really important to thin them out on a regular basis to avoid the inner foliage dying off.

Cheers,
Mojo

Thanks Mojo. I found the name on the sticker when I bought it, but after lots of googling I realized that You were right about the name.
At the moment it has not much inner growth, but it is important to know for the future. Hope I shall have something to thin out soon. :worship:

I have almost managed to kill 2 branches already, though I was careful with leaving some green needles on them. Lets hope they will survive. It must be my wiring. :fc:

Not much growth, and some dead branches???? Just did a thin shari on it and tried to bend the trunk a bit more. It is growing very slowly. I want to lower the hight some more but will do it in stages.
