Peter Adams
Craig Coussins, has posted on his Facebook page, that Peter Adams is seriously ill with Prostate cancer and complication's.
I am not sure how accurate this is, but would like to believe that no one would post this, for other than the truth.
So I would ask all who have known Peter, and who have learnt from his books to pray to your God for him.
Regards Pup

Re: Peter Adams
Very sad news
Don't know him but I have (like many others here) read alot of his stuff. Well wishes his way. This was posted on another forum from Craig:
Peter Adams recently suffered a serious illness and is currently in Intensive Care in a hospital in Bolton. He's in an induced coma with prostate cancer and cancer in the bones and I understand his kidneys are failing. Let us hope that he will pull through and I would like you to keep him in your prayers.
Peter taught me Bonsai from 1974 until 1990. He has been a great inspiration to many Bonsai artists over the years and trained almost everyone in the UK during the period from 1972 to 1992. He headed up three conventions I organised in Scotland and he has always been a friend and my Sensei.

Our thoughts and best wishes to Peter and Kate. Hope you are all OK
for those that know Peter I am sure you will agree, and for those that have not yet met him, a truer Gentleman would be hard to find.

Re: Peter Adams
Very sad to hear the news! I had emailed Peter a week or so ago and didn't have a reply, now I know why
For those who don't know Peter, you can visit his website here https://www.ausbonsai.com.au/peteradams/ and here is his bio which I helped put together earlier this year:
Peter began his fifty year career with bonsai as a 12 year old student at art school in England. After seven years at provincial college, he gained entrance to the Royal Academy Schools in London – one of twenty two admitted from several hundred applicants.
After gaining his degree from the Royal Academy, Peter worked as a portrait artist, an advertising art director, animation film maker, in TV as film director, and illustrated for the UK Ministry of Defence.
His bonsai nursery and school were well known for thirty years and were attended by many of the prominent figures in European bonsai. Peter has exhibited regularly with the Royal Horticultural Society in London at the world famous Chelsea Flower Show and advised the RHS on judging selection for the show. He also taught the staff of the RHS Gardens at Wisley as a foundation for their present bonsai interest.
Peter has continued painting and his work is in many private collections. His ability as an art critic has led him to provide various art related services for bonsai collectors everywhere. One form this takes is instruction in bonsai design as a graphic program tailored to the needs of the individual and their trees. Part of this package is a very detailed future state tree drawing. These drawings are eagerly sought after for framing. He is also much in demand as advisor to private collectors of bonsai.
Peter and his wife Kate now live in Washington state. They spend time traveling and teaching bonsai throughout the world. As well as being the most prolific western author of books on bonsai, he now writes for journals such as Bonsai Focus on a regular basis and also illustrated Kate’s book ‘Bonsai Easy Steps with 21 Species‘.
His work has been a major force in the progress of western bonsai. This was acknowledged most recently by the Association of British Bonsai Artists with their award for “raising the standard of British bonsai to that of an art form“.
One quote about Peter says it all: “there were no teachers till he became one and there were no books till he wrote one.”
Peter was a regular lurker and occasional poster on our forum. I'll get a message to his wife Kate to pass on all our best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.
Sincerely,
Steven

Re: Peter Adams
I have just read a post by Tony Tickle a pommie Bonsai person who just visited Peter and his wife. It is not good news.
Peter has advanced Pancreatic Cancer they have taken all the life support off and he is still in a coma.
He is not going to survive, it is a matter of Days maybe hours.
So please pray to your Gods for a peaceful transition to the other side for Peter.
Cheers Pup

Re: Peter Adams
My thoughts and prayers go out to Peter and his family.
I was lucky enough to meet Peter at my first club meeting. (He was the reason I joined the club too as it was a demo for members only and I haven't looked back since)
He has been a huge influence on me and I am sure there are countless others that would not be into bonsai today had it of not been for Peter Adams.
Such dreadful news, may his spirit live on in his amazing collection of trees and his brilliant artwork and penmanship continue to inspire bonsai enthusiasts worldwide.

Re: Peter Adams
Hi all,
So sorry to hear about Peter. I went to a number of his demonstrations the last time he was here. Peter and Kate came to the Suiseki night at the School of Bonsai and Kate gave me a couple of Suiseki stones she had bought over with her.
I'll certainly being praying for Peter and the family at this time.
Regards Ray

Re: Peter Adams
I have been in touch with a Bonsai enthusiast in the UK, he has told me that at this point in time nothing more has been passed on to anyone.
The Family have asked for privacy at this point in time.
They thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, and will let us know in the future.
Cheers Pup

Re: Peter Adams
Some misinformation has been spread by a certain people in the UK about Peters health on Facebook. Their posts were written without any authority from Kate or the family.
Most of the nice things that have been said about Peter in response to these posts have gone to the Facebook pages of these people or bonsai website blogs and not directly to Kate and the family. Therefore Kate and Peters family haven't seen most of the wonderful comments about Peter, which is a real shame because they would definitely benefit and be comforted by the support shown by everyone in their comments right now.
What has been written about Peters health is mostly exaggerated or simply not true, this has been extremely upsetting for Kate & the family. Yes, Peter has been very ill, but, to avoid any further misinformation such as the one last week where it was claimed Peter "only had hours to live" being spread, Kate now has an official Facebook page called "Peter and Kate Adams Bonsai". Kate will post updates about Peter whenever there is any change in his condition.
Please spread the word that the ONLY official updates about Peter are on this Facebook page and that they will come direct from Kate. Feel free to write a comment direct to Kate & Peter on their official Facebook page - upload a relevant photo if you have one. Hopefully Peter will also be well enough to read your comments and see your photos soon.

Thank you for that Kati.
I only passed what was given to me, by one of the first to break this he has since retracted and apologized.
Peter is still very ill so we should still pray to our gods for his recovery.
