Oak Dig

Post by Watto »

All the recent chatter about digs encouraged me to dig an Oak that I had seen and cut back about two years ago. My memory told me it was better than it now looks but that's life.
Anyway here is my new tree and it is my first "real" Oak. If you could let me know which is your prefered front I would appreciate that, and if you think it should be a single trunk or two, or three.

to me , no.1 looks like a good front. i think it may look great as a twin trunk, although on the first trunk from the left, the right most branch should go so that the trunks are growing away from each other
Acer buergerianum, Acer palmatum, Bougainvillea (something), Ficus microcarpa, Lagerstroemia indica 'Fauriei', Melaleuca styphelioides, Olea Europa, Prunus (something) 'Dwarf Apricot', Quercus robur, Ulmus parvifolia, Zelkova serrata

I like no 1.

The triple trunk; large one in the middle and to the back. Good difference in thickness of the trunks, movement and some taper.

Just need to sort out(bend) the left most trunk; the right hand one is easy and the middle is fine as it goes.
