Hi all.
I'm new to the forum and Aus Bonsai.
I've recently been having a pest-fungal problem with two of my Junipers, and have not been able to find an accurate description of the problem through any manuals. I thought this was a little odd, because the Juniper is such a common plant to use in the Bonsai tradition.
The problem manifests as a white dotted substance on the leaves of the bush, which later causes the leaves and minor branches to brown up and die off.
I have attached a photo if anyone was interested in taking a look, or has had the problem themselves.
Thanks in advance for your help, I look forward to the responses.

Good luck Adrian.
I haven't seen this before.
Have you tried any fungicide yet?

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Thanks for the quick reply. To be truthful, no. I was initially reluctant to, because I couldn't find an adequate description of what I was trying to attack. But perhaps it wouldn't hurt to try a general fungicide, and see what happens. Are there any fungicides which you recommend?

I think I can see scale too - small brownish shells on the leaves. Looks to be a pretty bad infestation. If it is scale, there is a bug under each shell sucking sap out of the plant.
Confidor should kill them but may need another spray in a few week to catch any new ones hatching.

Nooo. I think you're right. I've been tricked into thinking they were a fungus, but they're bugs!
Thanks guys. A fresh perspective really helped. I'll try a Confider treatment asap.

Re: Juniper Foliage Problem
My Juni had this problem about 8 months ago and its almost dead! I tried differing methods to help it but the problem with Junipers is that when they start to decline it is very difficult to turn fhem around and bring it back.
Good luck, I hope yours can get over it
