FROM POODLE TO BONSAI

Post by Meagi »

Hi all had the chance to spend some time at Bodhidharma nursery today
As you all know I had this Chinese elm for sale a few weeks back thinking I did not like the tree anymore so off to daylesford it and I went .
Bodhidharma assured me I'd love it if I put some time and effort into it .
To be honest I was a bit doubtful
So 4 hrs later and and heaps of discussion and choices it has really brought a spark back in my eye !

I know now I was scared of the tree and discouraged and what human first reaction"ignore the facts"
This is it sept 2012 approx

This is it now after a defoliation major wire and branch selection.

Plan on tilting a bit next repot and can the awful pot it's in now
Image

Still needs heaps of work but at least now we both have a future me a bit more knowledge and the tree looking its best

Can't get over how old it looks now looks like a tree!

Thanks mate for your patience and much needed and treasured guidance
Love the tree again !

Great to see you now loving your tree again, Bodhi obviously got you on the right track! like anything, given the right information, tools + a bit of friendly guidance has given you a confidence boost, and the knowledge that you can now tackle other trees in your collection with more intent. Congratulations. good trunk on that elm btw!

Cheers,
Ryan

Hi Meagi , mate well done on this restyle . It all starts with good material and progresses quickly from there . Good instructions and a willingness to learn or be teachable is a good trait to have .

Cheers Alpine

Keep picking off those guys you dont want Chris. They all take energy to grow. Keep all the ones you think will be useful in the design of the tree.
