Banksia then and now

I started this tree a few years ago after trading it with a friend. He thought it was a Banksia Grandis,( no it was not him ) so I called it that, till it was pointed out that it was serrata.
I still like the tree even though it comes from the East.

I have done some pruning and wiring today, so I thought to post up some pictures.

Still a bit to go then I can concentrate on reducing the foliage. It is 47.5 cm the base is 12.5cm.

Hi Pup , coming from the East should make it a very special tree. I remember climbing these buggers as a kid , our farm had plenty of them growing in sandy loam . Very nice Tree that's for sure .

Filling out very nicely, Pup.
How do you find the leaf reduction on this species? You mention you're planning to work further on it, though its already looking very nice Ive been thinking of planting some banksia species in the grow bed and am tossing up between integrifolia and serrata. The obvious option is to go with both

Another nice tree Pup. Looks a lot better with the new pot. Amazing how much of a difference a pot makes. Now.. if you ever decide to return it to it's home over east I'd be happy to do that for you lol. They have great trunks them. As kids we would collect the flowers for mothers day, cheaper than buying them.

Lovely tree Pup.

I really like this species for Bonsai.
I especially like seeing them in flower as the flowers are just so very iconic and Australian IMO.
Yes the flowers can look a little out of proportion but hey they are very special nonetheless.
