Good time to work an Olive?

Post by Qitianlong »

Hey all, just wondering if people recommend working an olive at this time of year (in Sydney)? Meaning root work and cutting back and carving... many tell me that you can't kill an olive, but that's not something I want to experiment with... I'd rather it have a fighting chance of surviving the work I do to it... best to wait until early Spring??

I believe any time is good as long as the weather is not to extreme-ie not to old not too hot.

I have a mate who reckons any day she isn't doing something is a good day to work on an Olive. I agree with her, not so sure about the middle of winter though as the Olives seem to like the heat more than the cold. Having said that, I have dug Olives during winter and not lost one, they do seem to take a little longer to get going at that time of the year though. Now would be a good time I reckon.
