I have 3 other Fig ROR, this is my first attempt at a 'root over deadwood'.
I'm aiming for a rainforest strangler fig form on this one, it will be repacked again soon... (I try to let the packing material come off naturally over a few days, then reposition roots if needed and repack.)
Cheers

Re: Strangler Fig Progress
ok... so when I find my nice piece of wood to be strangled... did you first treat the wood to prevent it rotting later?

No ideally id like the dead wood to eventually rot. Hopefully at the right stage..Qitianlong wrote:ok... so when I find my nice piece of wood to be strangled... did you first treat the wood to prevent it rotting later?

Re: Strangler Fig Progress
After years of moisture the 'dead' wood becomes ''Less hard & Easy to rot'''. I would read into it further before following my path... I do "trial&error" personally.

Cool! Thanks for sharing.
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful
