Hey Gavin, cheers for your input!... I also like the swing in the trunk!! (i had it in a 3clamp for 8 months to help extentuate it!).. the taper is a worry in my eyes though. I woud chop it at the second set of branches you have ther tho.
there is no taper in the section above that juntion so would remove it there and then wire one of those branches up as the new apex.
Keep it at that height. Cut back branchine hard and build ramification.
