This is the ash I got yesterday. It looked like a thin whip from a distance but when I moved the weeds away from trunk I found this great base.

Nice one Goff! :tu2:
Have you considered trunk chopping a little lower?
In my experience ash can handle it upon collection.
Just a thought...I like it very much :tu2:
Cheers, Dario.
PS what are the hawthorn you got like?

Will chop it lower for sure!! I'll just wait to see where it shoots . If made the mistake before cutting it too short too early

Sweet Goff I figured you were being cautious :tu2:
I have collected several ash and about 90% of the time they produce buds from the cut where they were trunk chopped.
When this has not been the case it has budded within 5cm of the chop (at least this has been my experience with them). They are tough buggers!
Better to be safe than sorry though ;)
I look forward to seeing updates of this one in the future, nice work!
Cheers, Dario.

These are two hawthorn I collected with ozzy a couple of weeks ago. I just love the bark!!! The first pic has a little more potential than the 2nd but both I think are nice. Can wait to go back for more!!
