approach graft diagram

Post by Paulneill »

Hi guys i found this diagram on the net and thought it was very informative .

I am planning to approach graft 5 or 6 new small woody branches on my large juniper. This will be my first atempt and this and want to give them the best chance of taking.
I have seen plenty of approach grafts but on trees like maples were there is no need to cut into the sicon. with my tree being a juniper i think the form of graft shown in the diagram will be best suited to my situation were the sion has a strip removed down eather side
any tips on peforming this would be really great.

what tools do u use for this ?
