I visited my local elm plantation this week and was surprised to see half of it underwater. The lake was about a metre higher than the last two years.
The soil was damp underfoot and digging was easy. From home to digging and back home took 15 minutes.

I reckon the group will be the pick of the litter. It has huge potential. I bet you can already see its future.
P.s..have you thought of adding the smaller single tree into the group planting as a main tree

Sept .........I must be getting ahead of myself, it should read July but I am not sure how to edit this.
The orchid pots are fantastic, holes for ties and anchor wires.
I line mine with a small offcut of shadecloth because drainage holes allow soil to be washed out. The shallow dimensions make them very suitable for bonsai.
They last for years and are not so cheap but the trees grow very happily. I used my last one on Tuesday (100 ordered a year ago 50 medium and 50 large)
New supply arrived today so I will be able to spare some if anyone local is interested.

It must be nice to have that quality of collectable stock at your doorstep, you lucky bugger. I wish I could find elms up here on the south coast of NSW.

The group is a root connected clump, one push with the spade and up she came. I will not be able to insert a larger tree into the centre but will most likely shorten most of them further once they start to shoot.
