Then you get personal. Stay clear of you......maybe, maybe not. Maybe we could meet......i will be in Perth at Alexander Park for 3 weeks in August, maybe we could get together for a coffee.
Chat about how to pick out suitable crappy material to challenge ourselves......
Hi Craig , mate i can see a dozen possiblities with a plant like that . Even without personally browsing the tree itself . From Informal upright , formal upright , 2 rafts if split down the middle , multi trunk as in Kimura's pine , twin trunk lightening struck, father son combo , wind swept straight , wind swept contorted , Layered off into 2 tree's etc etc . Stock like this has the foliage to produce almost any style one could imagine ,but only if one has an imagination or insight , most juniper back bud with a good haircut .
Just err on the side of caution if you plan to under cut all the branches in 1 hit lower down the trunk . Pup mention an example of a Juniper dying from having all the branches under cut ,reconfirming my concern , this was recommended by a visiting Guru on a plant he had . I have lost 1 or 2 Spruce and Juni's from the same proceedure . Simply do it over several seasons to allow the sap flow to recover a new direction of flow . . I'm keen to see or here of your plans for this tree .
Does it have Formal upright potential A very challenging style the formal upright. I have not seen many in my Bonsai lifetime, let alone a good one. Could that be the way to go, i cannot see into the tree with the photos posted.

Jarrod.. If the case is, that you just have an unusual sense of humour, then that is not what is being perceived by the readers of your posts. You are coming across as being argumentative and goading. Your unsolicited, inflammatory remarks left 'ME' feeling somewhat annoyed, so I am not surprised that Craig has had something to say about them, seeing that they were meant for him. At no time did he say anything that could be construed as "having a go" at you. If you had known him for years and had that type of ribbing friendship, then we would all "get it", But I don't think you even know each other. What one conveys in the written word can sometimes be misconstrued as we can't see facial expressions or hear tone of voice and caution must be put in place. This forum is about support, sharing experiences, "polite" suggestions and the camaraderie of sharing a common interest. Every forum seems to have a resident antagonist, who is normally ignored and treated like a idiot, and I for one would not like to see this forum develop one as well. If you are on here to contribute and to seek knowledge, then that's great, but if your motives are otherwise then you will find that your posts and questions will not get the attention that they might otherwise deserve. How you react to these comments will show us your true motives, so after reading them, I would suggest that you think for a while and re- read some of the things that you have written, before you reply. Your future treatment on here is up to you.

Maybe a good idea Jarrod, I'd like that mate.
Thanks Hacki ,
Mr Bodhidharma, no good for formal upright i'm afraid, the trunk has too many issues.
Ian, your very right, there are ALOT of options here. As this tree was trained as/for bonsai it's branches have been pulled from the trunk at good angles, no undercutting needed if going that way.
My apologies if i have misinterpreted what was said but thats how it appeared to me. After reading back through my contribution i to feel that i was antagonistic so i do apologies.
jarrod.
Jarrod, You have certainly rekindled my respect for you, (Not that that should mean terribly much) Can I be a fly on the wall when you meet in WA for coffee?
Hi Craig , holy sheet batman , who Nuked your tree.!!!! . Brutality might pay off , but , but , but , um .Now that's radical , hope your plan works out bud .
