At WAR with Seasol

Post by billa »

Hey Gang,

I hope your all well and all your bonsais are in good health.

I was going to start a thread asking if anyone had tried the Seasol Foliage Formula fertilizer spray.

Now I trust the name and am sure many of us here use their products. I wanted to get some advice from my bonsai elders in this forum on the product & the concept.

I did a quick Google search about reviews, feedback etc and to my horrid surprise I came across this:

http://gardenclinic.com.au/garden_news/ ... ula_750ml/

So a batch has been contaminated with WEED KILLER. I have no way of telling how old the article is (with a bit of luck its from 1994 or something :fc: ) but...this product is the first I have seen of its kind and can only assume its a fairly new product....maybe someone here can clarify?

I should have read about it then purchased it, instead of buying it AND USING IT ON ALL MY TREES!!!!

Now I could be in the clear but if you read the article only one batch was affected...you can identify this batch by a code printed on the back of the item...take a look at the back of my item!!!!!

I dont know what to do.

Are there any lawyers on this site who want to take on a criminal case!!! I really cant believe this.

Just the thought that I have maybe sent my trees to doom or half way to it....is incredibly unsettling..

Well troops...should we go to war?

here is the culprit anyway..

Looking at the serial number on your picture, I'd say you're safe as it looks nothing like it. Good luck, hope this is the case!

Give some of your weeds a spray and see what happens! :lost: If they gain a sudden burst of vigour, then you'll know you are in the clear!

If this had happened to me I would contact Seasol in the morning and express my concerns. The "Batch" number is not the barcode. Here are some contact details. good luck.

Companies have problems with machinery etc. Mistakes happen. If you are concerned, call them up. If they can't tell you your bottle isn't infected they will probably send you another one if you send proof of purchase or something.

And NO. This is not what people go to war about.

Seasol wishes to advise that due to circumstances beyond their control, a batch of Seasol Foliage Formula 750ml has been contaminated with weed killer. The contamination occured at a subsidiary of Seasol contracted to pack Seasol bottles.

The recall affects batch number 20479 which is clealy visible on the label on the back on any Seasol Foliage Formula 750ml ONLY. No other unit has been affected by the contamination so the popular lines of Seasol Twin Pack and 1 Litre and not affected.

It is important that anyone with this batch number does not use the product, and calls the toll free number of 1800 335 508 during business hours for further information.

If you have any questions regarding this recall, contact Seasol on (03) 9729 6511.

So have you contacted seasol as it said in the report to find out the details. It's only fair to notify them first before airing dirty laundry :imo: There is no date on the report so it could be old or new there is nothing on there website about it which is strange as I would have thought they would mention it if it was current and a real danger of killing trees. I would contact seasol first if you really are so concerned that your threatening legal action. :o :o

I contacted Seasol today. They said the incident was about 4 or 5 years ago. They out sourced the filling of the bottles and the company that filled the bottles failed to clean the system properly bfore filling the seasol bottles. It really only effected the first few bottles but they recalled the whole batch.
Now it could be me, but I just checked my trees and they look tired..... It would appear it could just be you
So I guess no one is going to war unless it is seasol going to war against you. Amazing what a phone call can do..
