im back after being quiet for a fair few months. last year just happened to be one of those years and to top it off i ended up having a back operation in december. but i am recovering well and back on my feet. on a lighter note i have had some great success with cuttings this seeason. more than i thought i would have! i have struck cuttings from a tri coloured flowering peach, 5 different types of japanese flowering apricot (dark pink single, double white, semi double white with pink centre, double pink and weeping pink) along with various other plums, cherries and maples. the year beore i struck several apricot cuttings but this past spring i managed to strike over 30 apricot cuttings and all are growing well. next spring they will go in the ground. my garden soil is like steroids for plants so hopefully i will get some thickness quite quickly. i planted a peach cutting in my garden 18 months ago and now the trunk is as thick as a coke can.
i also had success with some air layers o a big double white apricot i have. i managed to get seven decent layers from branches that were going to be removed when styling the tree. i will attach some pics
