Soil Moisture monitoring via twitter

Post by kcpoole »

Found this today
http://www.botanicalls.com/kits/
available from here http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10334

it is an electronic kit that will monitor Soil moisture, and send you a message via Twitter about current moisture, When to water etc.
needs Network connection and power supply. Might have to get a sample and setup to try it out, Possibly a great way to monitor automatic watering systems when on holidays?

Wifi would be useful I admit and maybe power from a small solar panel as well.
Future enhancements maybe.

As for the pre assembled, maybe a job opening for someone :-), but a Kit means usually you have to assemble yourself tho
Same goes for a waterproofing, Build your own cover and or maybe dip in Epoxy resin.

I do soldering with electronics every day at work, so if anyone wants one assembled but has trouble with the assembly, let me know :) I can do it and post it back
