Hi All,
I’ve got a couple of pines and they’re growing nicely however their needles are a bit lighter compare to the older one that I’ve got. My questions are….
Candles are all shooting up so does this means my trees are doing ok? Or not?
What’s the best way to get the needles darker? Any tips guys? Esp. from all the Melbournians out there…

Hi Carlos,
Your trees are looking good. You will have to look up how to decandle your pines as you will not want to keep all the candles. As for the colour they will darken as they develop.

They were re potted this season so i'll be doing minimal work as much as possible or if ever... and i want to make sure that they're in good health...Actually being a newbie, i want to focus on keeping them alive

Hi Carlos, just water them with seasol. Every couple of weeks. Don't leave the candles go to long with out trimming them or you will have long internodes. As your a newbie find yourself a bonsai club and talk to people about pines. You can also borrow ooks specific to the care of pines from the bonsai clubs. Or hit the net there is a lot of info out there. You have some nice trees developing them early if the key.

I will look into candle removal soon…I’m just giving them time to settle a bit.

And yeah, I’ve joined a club two months ago and I have been attending meetings and been really active in JUST watching workshop so far
and asking heaps of questions ...borrowed some nice books too
