another winter coming to a close

Post by Matthew »

Havent posted much here lately been overseas surfing and busy with property. When i left i thought id have another month to start repotting but some heat while i was gone started everything so last 2 weekends been busy. Most of the decidious are done and i have started some of the older pines that havent been done since ive own them. ill take some individual shots when i got more time or people request . im happy with the last 12 months some trees have come along way, and alot got restyled :D

G'day Matt, that slanting Larch in pic #2 is looking nice, I like your choice of pot much better than the original.

Cheers,

last trees down with the exception of 3 old pines i ran out of diatomite atm :( the trident will get a shallow oval pot next season, the blue just temp. i have to find one as it is growing over a rock which may have to be cut underneath to allow shallow planting.

Hi Matthew

Thanks for showing us round your place a little more. Beautiful trees indeed!! Your bench setup is terrific. Also wish i had the space. Great to see the variety across your trees as well. The little premma caught my eye on the first viewing as well. What is the full botanical name for this tree? :reading:

Have you got the mesh just sitting on the wooden frame, or have you attached them along the ends/sides..... i can't quite see any attaching points.

Very happy for you mate :tu: and VERY jealous

Matthew,
I'm very concerned about you. There is no mess, no junk laying around, every tree is beautiful, every tree well presented, even your "stock" trees are neat and tidy!!!!!!
Just joking (or is it jealous?) its a great set up and trees to be proud of - congratulations.

the 10 by 10 mesh is horseshoe nail attached to the top of the setup . the mesh was strained than nailed in. it was for hail protection which it worked a treat last hail storm. The shade cloth comes down on very hot days ie 40 and i really only use the sprinklers when i go away or for a quick misting. I like the diversity as well. Got to get more decidious trees now that i can have them here.

im abit perdantic about neatness, i should show you pics of the garden im like that there too. not sure if its a healthy obsession or not :lost: :palm:

Hi Matt

Now that you mention the fastening... i can see the horse shoe nails in one pic. :palm:

Great to see your setup and trees. Any more details on the premma tree? I won't mention the difficulty i faced when googling this tree.....

cheers

Stuart
Premma japonica AKA stinky maple as when the leaves are brushed or crushed it pefumes a "interesting scent". decidious in most parts of the country except the sub tropics etc the leaves reduce extremely well and the flowers are a small white in clusters. works with most stlyes except formal they ror quite good, i have one example. bark is strippy when some age is achieved. not sure where its indigionous too i think indo china? hope that helps
