Re: 3 Year Time Capsule Competition - Entries
Some timing, decided to log back in after ages here’s my entry.
Kunzea Peduncularis - collected around 18 months ago, outside of collecting and trimming excess growth when too long, has had no styling.
Future direction, who knows, thinking a natural shaped informal
Good luck all...

Re: 3 Year Time Capsule Competition - Entries
My entry of a collected Buxus.
Came out of a mates garden a few months ago and has recovered nicely.
A slow growing specimen I think so will require all of the 3 years to make a nice specimen of a slanting upright tree of maybe 300 - 400mm tall
hope I can still get in? Let me know Ryceman if this is still ok to enter as I have bee working over the Last few week and yesterday was too stinking hot to get photos here!

Re: 3 Year Time Capsule Competition - Entries
Hi everyone
i have been flat out at work, doing 12 hr days, then given the fires around us in Tumut, it's been troublesome to say the least. Hope "Sno" is safe and not in any danger
If i'm too late, all's well that ends well
I was given this 3 years ago as i had just started to Bonsai from the nursery i volunteered at. Being all excited and hands on. Like most starters, i was all get up and grow, with no tools/wires, i wired with coat hanger wire hahahaha....yeah good onya mate. This was left on far to long of course but after a year, as the little thing grew, i noticed the cut in had actually added age to the "pinky finger" trunk. There are now 3 trunks ....am i hoping for thickening?....more likely, i'm still scared to cut anything that is growing like it belongs . As for final design, your guess is far better than mine

Re: 3 Year Time Capsule Competition - Entries
yep... you’re in for 3 reasons :
1. I reserve the right to implement “R3God” mode so the other 2 are irrelevant but...
2. You named and described the entry (without photo) earlier so I feel like that was already enough to buy you a day or more after the official cut off
3. You are contributing to the prize so I dare somebody to say you can’t enter...
...in short... your entry is bona fide and included.

Max, you are too late but I feel like you have a pretty reasonable excuse to put it mildly ... so again I implement “R3God” mode and you are absolutely in. Good luck, both with this entry and with the fires, I hope all goes well on both counts.

Re: 3 Year Time Capsule Competition - Entries
R3, have you told your partner about "R3God" mode? I'm curious about the reaction.
Also, all the best to those in the line of fire - Snowy, South Coast and Gippsland particularly. It's been a shocker of a season, and it's still quite early. Stay safe.

Hi Gavin, let me just say my wife is well aware of “R3God” mode... as for her reaction...
....
I’m under no illusion as to how far this mode extends... this thread is probably the extent, let’s be honest!

Re: 3 Year Time Capsule Competition - Entries
ENTRIES ARE CLOSED ...
Many thanks to all who took the time to get an entry in and have a go in this comp. Looks like we have just over 30 people involved, and a whole lot of different tree species and sizes which I think adds a bit of extra interest by the time we get around to the unveiling in 3 years time. Not a bad effort since there wasn't huge amounts of time to pick out your stock.
I'm already looking forward to seeing the development and progressions on these, this should be a lot of fun.
Don't forget to take a few pics now and again of your trees over the next few years (preferably as you work on them) so you have some stuff to show us in 2023. I might throw in a few reminders here and there just to keep you focussed!
Best of luck to all ...
