HI guys, Just wondering about some seedlings I have had sprout in the past month or so. I have various species growing from seed, but I was curious about transplanting them from the shallow seed trays to something more suitable for a years growth. Do I just transplant them, or should I "nip" the tip of the root with scissors to promote lateral roots? Its the first time I have propagated from seed for bonsai use, so I want to save as much trial and error as possible.

I've never repotted a maple seedling that was in leaf, I have always waited until next spring. Though I've never done A. ginnala.

In the past I found maples just fall over dead way to fast when roots are played with when in leaf.
