NEED ADVICE -asap

Hi guys,
As you know i made a post in regards to an Azalea dig i was able to do. This went along nicely and my father and I came away with 5 separate Azaleas. Hopefully all survive.
Thank you for you help and advice. I'm hoping to get some more if i'm not pushing my luck (advice that is!)
Anyways i just found out from my wife who does admin for our church (where i got the Azaleas) that the builders have remove a cherry blossom which i was told i could touch
. The trunk of the cherry blossum is roughly thigh size and the tree is anywhere from 20-40 years old. My wife tells me that there is a fair amount of roots in the root ball and the tree is in the shade. I have instructed he to grab some news paper cover the roots and water them heavily.
I am unable to get to the tree for another 4 hours. What do you think my chances are that i can keep this tree alive?
My plan is to rush home and get the tree in a seasol bath overnight and then pot up in whatever i can find that is big enough.
Its a very sad day for me because i was able to dig up that tree but was told i couldn't because it was staying
