Hello again,

Thought I'd start a new thread, to save people from having to scroll down so far. Anyway, here are a few more photos of the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection of Australia.
Here are the "weird and wonderful": a close look at a Banksia serrata trunk and a remarkable literati, the essence of elegance.

Next two of my own favourites: a beaut bottlebrush, which is said to have flowered abundantly (sorry I didn't see it - my own fault), and the fantastic forest of Melaleuca raphiophylla, with a separate detail photo.

Next two Japanese black pines, one a tree in the traditional Japanese style, which is on loan from Queensland, and the other a very tall slanting literati.

And finally a lovely Seiju elm and a Jaboticaba on loan from Queensland (I think - correct me if 'm wrong).

The bonsai I have shown here and in the first thread are only a small part of the Collection.
Grant is right: you have to see them live. Even if you've seen a hundred photos, you'll still be "bowled over", as one of our club members put it, when you come face to face with them.

Yes, it really is an excellent display, and the best part is that it is permanent. It is also dynamic, as trees on display will be changed to display the best of the trees available.

I believe the banksia is a serrata, down from Sydney (not sure if owner allows recognition).

John, I saw your pine when it arrived, it looked great then. However, I have joked with Grant that I have a few more trees that I would like to "drop off" so to speak!!

Thanks, you are right, it is a serrata and it's down from Sydney. The owner has not requested anonymity, but I still hesitate to show names on the Internet.

Yes, but unfortunately Lisa has photographed the back of the tree.

Well, Lisa didn't place it on the bench that way. Still, I should have seen that the movement is away from the viewer and that couldn't be right. I'll take another photo soon, when - hopefully - the tree is turned front forward.

Thanks, Skippy, that is a SUPER tree! Thoroughly deserves a place in the National Collection.
Now we've seen both front and back... it's a privilege.
It occurred to me that this might be one of those bonsai that could be viewed from a 360 degr. perspective.
