Hi everyone, I have made a decision to try and make a bonsai out of a Elaeocarpus Eumundi. It seems to be going well and is a really pretty tree hopefully I can keep it alive..
I was wondering if anyone else has tried this species or something close to this? I will post some photos of my tree so you can all have a look

OK. Big leaves need a big tree or they look silly. Big tree needs thick trunk. Search "trunk thicken" or look in the Wiki. Basically, big box, cut back to the first pair of branches, plant at an angle, and grow it long and fast. Then cut back next year, replant different angle, etc etc. After a few years you will start to have a sturdy trunk with interesting angles. Straight and thin in a bonsai pot will stay straight and thin. Keep us posted on how it behaves -it's not much used, so you'll need to find out stuff.
