Hey guys, I just stumbled across this website a few days ago and have been taking a lot of things in.

I was hoping I could get some advise as to what to do with a tree I'm working on. I'm really at a loss as to where I should go with this one.

Any feedback would be great!

Workshop is always a good call if you can make it.

Nice natural shape to the tree. If you are looking a little longer term and to keep the natural form, I would look at pruning to the red lines now to promote back shooting as a minimum, and also cut at the blue lines to remove the stronger branches and give strength and space to the branches on the main trunk line to the left. You could also lean the trunk trunk to the right to improve the direction. Tony

I notice that you have wire on the tree, but it is inefectual at best.
Wiring is a difficult skill to master, but master it we must if we are to shape our trees

Some great advise there. Here's some background information about this tree.

I originaly purchased this tree three years ago from *drum roll* The Imagination Tree, but i think they where on Monbulk road then, next to the reservoir. The young guy i spoke to was terriffic and very helpful. Hopefully I can find some time to checkout the workshop Chris runs.

I've kept the tree in the container untill I repotted it last year. The wiring isn't great, I know, but alot of the wire you can see, ecspeacialy on the left trunk, is holding a very small branch that i have twisted from the front of the tree to the back.

I originaly bought the tree because it had great natual properties and i was hoping to expand on that. After doing alot of cutting back last year I'm now at a loss as to the finished size. The braches all seem well proportined but it seems that the branches need to be longer to tapper out. I'm concerned that that will make the tree look unnatural and top heavy!
