Hi Guys , these are a few of the Pines collected last Winter .They were potted into 70mm plastic pots using scoria to improve the root mass . I made the decision 3 weeks ago to slip pot them into these pots , probably not ideal but i don't want to savage the root too much .None of these tree's have had any wiring done , they are as collected .I managed to collect around 50 of this species of 2 needle and another 30 Nigra's all under 200mm high . With some wiring and styling they will no doubt be great trainers over the coming season .Cheers Alpineart

The browning of the needles might just be old needles from when recovering or such but if they where mine I would hit them with Kocide blue extra just to be on the safe side as it would be easy for needle blight to hide in there I reckon.

Hi Bretts , old needles and to much moisture has contributed to the browning needles and also the yellow tinge .We have had over 1200mm of rain for the year so the remained wet for long periods .A good fert in a few weeks will restore the colour and some needle plucking /trimming should be a benefit too.

Hi Bodhi , i keep occupied in the yard , just finished root pruning and trimming over 750 Japanese and Trident Maples , dragging my feet now .The pines might get a work over this season if they are lucky . I have just been given an opportunity to display some tree's in a commercial premises for the next 2 weeks rotating every day so i had best get out there and tidy a few of the up .

Hi fella's , like i said these are as collected , no training or wiring just kept alive then slip potted .I would like to take the credit for styling , but Mother Nature and Blackberries are responsible for the shaping , they contort very well under the weight of the black berry bushes .Just got to have the willingness to get amongst them , you can find some extraordinary stock in the right places with the right attitude .

I will endevour to wire them up in the near future as Shohin , time permitting . I have numerous other larger specimens currently in 100mm plastic pots , they were pre wired now with the wire removed they need some more work . Repotting of the yamadori pines will have to wait as i have an opportunity to collect all weekend prior to the excavators moving in . Another ute load of unwanted noxious weeds will come in handy one day . Will keep you posted . Cheers Alpine

Hi Carlos , with a very wet week coming on , its off into the hills next week for more pre located specimens . I checked out a few more locations on Thursdeay , all i needed was good rain to fill the trunks .Cheers Alpine

Just wondering where you would buy Kocide blue extra? searching online it says it is for commercial use only.
