I have been working on this tree for 10 years and it has never flowered.
My question is what fertilizer,when and how often to make it flower.

Yes i have the same problem. But i read an article on Hawthorns (which i will dig up after my reno,s Finished) which states..You must feed and prune your Hawthorn the same as you would Malus..the apple tree. I had three flowers last year. Speccy autumn colour though.

Ditto to what Bodhi said, treat like an apple. I have used Phostrogen as the fertilizer of choice for many years with good success. Fertilize from January to May generally.
This year I used Bloom Booster full on after a small experiment last year, and I am hoping for great success (as opposed to good success). I will let you know how things turned out in the coming weeks.

Some colour this year. Still no flowers but I have taken Bodi and Wottos advice yet.

Just to check - it looks to me like you first posted this on 11/08/11- 2011 and Watto and Bohdi responded. Are you saying you have followed their advice and still no flowers or you haven’t yet followed their advice. Or am I misreading the dates? No drama either way - just clarifying.

I know its been a while but I continue to use Bloom Booster and I think it is the best product I have used in relation to getting/increasing flowers.
In fact I gave my trees a dose yesterday.
PS - your tree is developing well.

This is one of my favorite deciduous varieties.

I thought you might be interested in these. Some slides from one of my old talks.
In other words...bloom booster fertilizers are a scam.

Thanks for the slides Mike, I have seen similar for and against and I am not qualified to say which is correct. I only have anecdotal evidence of the product success. I had hawthorns that had never flowered and the spring after I started using the product they flowered. It may have been luck (or tree age) but it appeared to work and I have continued to use it since.
