Just wondering if Castanospermum sp - Queensland Black bean or Mortern Bay chestnut are suitable for bonsai? there is a huge one across the road and was thinking about taking a cutting and trying my hand at the "Develop fig quickly" technique i've seen on this site. Any thoughts or comments, does anyone have one of this trees in development?

Any plant is suitable for bonsai, only those with softer wood can be somewhat
of a problem. Just when you think you have a great flow and nice shape,
bang a branch ups and dies on you. Then its not worth the effort. Those
with giant leaves can be troublesome also.If the leaves can take to plucking
then id say they may reduce, depending. Cant say that i have seen a
blackbean, but sounds interesting. Hope some other members can be
of better help to you.
