diatomite and moss

I am new to this diatomite revolution that seems to be the consensus among forum members. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if moss grows in the pots as per normal and if you would use this potting mix as is for trees ready for display or the show bench? I am interested to know also what differences you would make between say a pine mix and a maple or elm mix. Do you incorporate pine mould or get microrhize to grow in the diatomite mix if used as is? I have moss growing on Diatomite mix OK. when you first put on and before it "takes" you mhave to make sure it stays moist otherwise it keeps on lifting.

to help, you can sprinkle a layer of finer particles so the gaps fill up a little
