Snow Flake’ hinoki pine tree

just curious does anyoe know of these and what they are like for a bonsai i cannot find any information on them so im a little lost apprently they are rare ..if that the case it showing throught the net lol

As far as I know the Honoki cypress pine is very suited to bonsai. The 'Snow Flake' is probably a variation of the original type. Perhaps a lighter/ whitish foilage colour in winter?
Should be ok though.

The Hinoki Cypress is a good subject but the cultivars off it are not robust and die quite easily. Usually the original tree are the best subjects

ah isee yes the tree has yellow splashes in between the green foliage.. just curious as i have not seen them and my friend has chance of buying two small one for 16 dollars so he asked me about them

Hey Sahara,

I had something similar here in SA, and mine had white splashes in between the green. I found it difficult as a bosai as the white distracted from the design of the tree. I'd recommend going for it only as a learning process, but not really as a tree to be taken too seriously. Them splashes of differing foliage will bug ya till the end of time! :imo:
