Gday Guys,
A month back i had some trees taken down at my house by an arborist. I asked him to leave the mulch for me to use on the garden and he obliged by dropping it right down the back next to a big Casuarina I have. Today I started using the mulch which was up against the trunk of the tree and as I scraped it back, big tufts of new white roots were discovered emerging from the trunk.
So wet, warm rotting mulch seemed to have given the perfect conditions for ground layering a massive tree trunk in only 4 weeks.
