My Buxus Dig

Hi,
Yesterday I had the opportunity to dig this old buxus from a garden. After two hours on the crowbar and shovel it was out of the ground (it was growing in a rockery and up against a fence) and then it took another hour or so to get it trimmed and potted.
I did cut quite a bit away so there is really no foliage close to the trunk, but I hope it will shoot back over the coming months. I am no expert on box but they should shoot back on old wood, won't they? Not sure how old it is but I think the nabari is quite nice and there is a little bit of movement in the trunk.
I do intend to rest it for a while, but I would appreciate your thoughts on anything to do with this tree, but especially some design suggestions.
Thanks in advance
Watto
PS the walnut is off my tree and is there for size comparison.

hi watto
not sure about the tree but the nut looks yummy

i am sure the box will shoot back down the trunk
as they are a very hardy tree and that looks like you did a lot of work to it just to get it at that stage well done
cheers dean the terror

Nice tree mate. Look after it as it will make a fine bonsai one day!!!
I like the front you have labelled as "possible front" That trunk base and major branch really speak to me! I'd get rid of a lot of the main trunk and keep it low and compact almost like a kinda broom style, but not in the traditional sense as you could try to work in that lovely low branch.

Thanks for the comments. In the photo "possible front" I am not 100% sure on the first branch, but I can be convinced. I forgot to give you the measurements, so I will put the tape over it tomorrow.
It's had a bit of rough treatment so I am letting it recover but I always intended to reduce the height a bit.

PS - there are plenty of walnuts, its just a matter of me collecting them and then drying them.

Box will backbud like crazy..you will forever be rubbing buds off of this one. In my experience, they are very hardy and will survive almost anything.

My new little darling is 600 mm tall, 1000 mm wide with a nabari of 160 mm. Far too wide in its branch structure but like I said, as it buds back I will cut it back.

Very very nice Watto
Will shoot well and give you choices, but that front you chose is a special.

Webos - thanks for the advice about the back budding. I was confident, but not 100% sure as this is the first box I have had the opportunity to work on.
Tony - if you think that is a good front, I'm going with it. Thanks!

Nice score and well worth the effort

Keep the water up to it as the last one I had carked it because the root ball was so tight ad woud not let the water in. The Layers I took off it are both loving the full sun and watering twice daily
