March Maryborough Meeting

G'day,
Another most enjoyable meeting was held at the Bougainvillea Nursery on Sun.6th March. I was fascinated by a tip we were shown, straightening wire. It was so simple yet very effective. Taffy once again demonstrated his talent and knowledge by helping those of us that brought plants along for advice. It was suggested that our group attend the Gympie meeting on Saturday 26th March. Personally I think this would be very rewarding. Maybe prior to the date we might be able to arrange a car pool from Maryborough. Is there anybody interested?
Cheers Perry the Pom :aussie:

G'day Mick,
After the wire has been removed from the plant it is all curled up. Straighten it the best you can. Have one person with a pair of pliers folding the tip of one end. The person holding the tip of the wire on the other end with pliers. Bend the wire in the middle to form a upside down V. The second person count to three and pull the wire as hard as they can in one sharp stroke. The first person holds the wire as hard as he can and hopefully his shoulder does not get pull of of the socket. It even worked with thick wire. Try it it is so simple but works great.

And if you are all alone Perry, just stick one end of the wire in a vice and give it a couple of wacks (tugs, pulls) with your pliers from the other end. Works the same every time. Oh yes and expect the end of the wire to snap off, usually the wires signal that it is straight. ;)
