Can someone please help me ID and get rid of these bugs on My Japanese mapel. They are a small flying insect that suckes the sap out of mainly new growth. I have tried confidor and roger, both systemic insectisides. with no results. i have included a pic of the damaged caused by these bugs as well as the best pic of the bug that I could get ( camera is not good at close-up pics and the bugs are quite small) Thanks for your help

Im not sure what it is but its certainly doing damage. Try malithon bought in a little orange container. I have used roger etc in the past without eradication however this seems to work on contact with most things. You will find it at nurserys or bunnings. It will last ALONG time as mix rate is about 1ml per litre i think? it seems safe with elms to were other pesticided can cause issues.

Hi Simo, Sorry no I have not. I have tried a contact spray, permethrim, which will kill them but others just take there place . So unless you spray 3/4 times a day they just keep coming :lost: :lost: . I have almost given up for this season so the battle will continue next year. If I find something that works I will let you know.
