All,,a while ago i posted a tree for ID, viewtopic.php?f=134&t=5586 , still not sure what it is but after planting in the ground this season, and thinking about it for quite some time, i decided to take action .The long trunk was the issue, i could of reduced the height but i like the old bark the trunk has, so,, after taking inspiration from other trees i've seen recently, Starting to look better already
I ran out of inner tube so i'll finish that soon, then add a whole heap of thick wire and get a little movement happening.. I'll probably reduce the overall height in time aswell so this trees journey begins,,,regards Craig

Wow, that looks really great. What a transformation, I really like it. It does look like a good old Peppy tree but with particularly rugged bark. So if you have little white ball flowers and woody nuts, if it gives you hayfever and has reddish and very attractive new growth it may be a peppy. I dunno Nice looking bonsai whatever it may be

Hi Neal,Lennard, i haven't seen flowers yet, maybe oneday.
No cut paste on the wound Lennard as it will get carved out so you don't see a flat blade cut down the trunk. If nothing else this exercise is good practise for me . Cheers Guys ,Craig

Interesting Craig,
you have given me an idea there. I have a tree thats been cut straight across to reduce its height. Other than carving it out i wondered what else i can do with it. Looks like i may split it 4 ways now, see what happens.

, about a month or so ago i trimmed all the foliage back on this tree and now it's starting to backbud nicely. The cambium along the split is growing strong aswell. I have changed the angles of the 2 trunks pretty well so far and plan to grow in a weeping style. When spring arrives it's going to go nuts with new growth so i'll get an idea of branching then. The left trunk twists towards the front and the right trunk is to the rear,can't really see that in the pics.Still along way to go but I think the trunk isn't so boring now

Hi Tony, yep straight down the guts with a recip saw, rough and ready..

It's been about 7 mths now and getting some branching going at last looking better than when i first posted
