I was checking my plants tonight and I found a praying mantis on my privet. He was coming out of his old skin, I rushed to get my camera but he must have popped out as I was getting it. Here are some photos (with my crappy camera!!!)

The poor guy is still (an hour later) clinging on to the branch trying to dry himself out in the rain!!!!

Good capture hooky.

I'd be happy to have a family of these little guys on every one of my trees - Praying Mantis means no other bugs! They are reputed to be the deadliest of non-venomous insects with a strike speed of 30-50 thousandth of a second.

Hooky - it is great that you were able to capture the moment. They are great "additions" to the bonsai garden as they control the bad guys.
I was going to trim a spruce of mine recently and came across a cicada shell under the branches. Unfortunately I did not see the little critter like you were able too.
