Can anyone enlighten me on the differences / similarities of Maxicrop and Seasol? I use the former on rotation with charlie carp once a week with osmocote grains on top of soil for good measure. Still gettting to grips with this part of the forum Lots to digest (not ingest....)

Seasol is usually used as a tonic for boosting plants when they are in distress, Maxicrop is more like a fertiliser for plants. Posters, correct me if you like!

Depends on which Maxi crop product you are talking about. They also make a seaweed concentrate which means there would be no difference.
Then agian maybe he is talking about Multi crop plant starter which is another kettle of fish altogether

I will throw my hat into the ring here and use the KISS principle. Seasol is used for healthy fibrous root promotion and maxicrop feeds and nourishes the tree.

No probs with you Bretts, I didn't know much about the topic, just what I said, sounds like you are more capable of answering, so take it away!

What Maxicrop® contains

Whilst all Maxicrop® fertilisers contain seaweed, some formulations are 100% seaweed and totally organic and others are a blend of seaweed, trace elements and Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium (NPK).
Maxicrop® seaweed contains over sixty different trace elements and numerous naturally occurring growth factors, many of which are known to be important for plant growth and development.

It really depends on which Maxicrop product Stewart is talking about.

My white bottle (600ml) has a red cap and has from top down the following text:
Multicrop (small txt)
Maxicrop (Large text)
Seaweed
Plant Food Concentrate

As for the seasol - i've never bought any so can't say which one i mean....

There ya go. So it is like seasol as a tonic/conditioner with some nutrients added.
I have started using something similar called Garden magic Complete seaweed all purpose fertilizer with trace elements added, it is 10:2:4 I liked it as it was endorsed by Graham Ross the TV gardener. Call me gullible but considering all the gimmicks and tall tales fertiliser companies make I find that reassuring
Finding the NPK for Maxicrop® Seaweed Plant Food Concentrate is not easy. It may have this on the bottle but they may be excluded from having to show this calling the product plant food instead of fertiliser. I did find with a N of 4.6 and a P of 1.2 it may be a fairly weak fertiliser.
So I would think of it as doing the same as seasol with some added fertiliser
Using this with charlie carp is probably doing a decent job of fertilising your trees.
I would like to recommend you swap the maxicrop for seasol (tonic soil conditioner) and keep using the charlie carp(organic fertiliser) but also incorporate some nitrosol(organic chemical fert with lots of trace elements) in there as well to fill any gaps.

If you read the labels of Seasol or Maxi crop, what are the NPK balances? As has been said seasol and Maxicrop are soil improver's.

All fertilisers are required by law to state the NPK balance as well as the trace elements.
One of the main reasons Bretts, favorite Superthrive is such a hard product to import, as it does not say what it is. I do believe they have told HM Customs what is in it so it can be imported.

Back to the question I would say there is no difference,in either one. I use Seasol as a tonic as I do with Superthrive.

on the back of my Maxicrop bottle it says:

Would these be the trace elements that i've read in previous posts... looks like there a few suckers in this lot i've got!

I probably was not clear enough in my above post for the Old guy Pup.
This Maxicrop product you have does contain nutrients as well as the tonic attributes of seaweed concentrate. Others only have the seaweed.

What you show is data of trace elements contained in the product. I would not be able to tell you if they are high enough concentrations without alot of working out. That is why I tend to go for the tried and tested these days as I stated above.
As a matter of curiosity could you tell me the dilution rate recommended on the bottle. I am guessing it should be pretty high. at least 60ml per 9L otherwise I think it will be a pretty weak fertiliser!

I used to use Maxicrop for about 20 years; as well as Osmocote in the mix or top dressed on. I would combine it with Seasol as well at full recomended strengths for both maxi crop and Seasol.

Maxicrop is very low NPK and I have since switched to something other than Maxicrop(Nitrosol, powerfeed etc) and Seasol; plus Osmocote as well.

I do not feel Maxicrop as a fertilizer is strong enough.

Sorry to take so long. I've been ripping out a kitchen and putting in a new one from IKEA - smart little sweds....
Mixture rate is 24 ml per 9L for flowers veges and natives up to 48 ml per 9 L for fruit tree - no mention as per bonsai though.
