Ok i was inspecting my bonsai fortune fig (ginseng ficus) for any aphids, and i saw this spider-web on the very top of the tree! Too make matters worse i live in newcastle and believe it or not the sydney funnel web spider has spread into the area. So i got a pair of tweezers and inspected further until i found the culprit. Luckily, not a sydney funnel, but a small peacock jumping spider. I eventually got him and put him in the yard. So watch out when you check your bonsai.

by the way: most spiders you'll find in your bonsai trees will be harmless and many will be too small too see, but that doesn't mean there could be a funnel web in there!!!

so if you have stories about spiders in your in you're bonsai trees put them here (it would be even better if you could tell us how to prevent them).

it's fascinating that you can shape and prune a tree the way you like, but it's even better when it's mini.
