Below is a native yamadori tree I dug from heathland near Lamington National Park (not within) in late December. So far the tree is looking incredibly healthy and I've noticed at least one bud popping. I believe this tree to be a Leptospermum, however a positive I.D. would be appreciative .

The small tree was clutching to life on a flat rock with roots spreading far and wide, the rough, weathered bark could only have been created from the rugged mountain it hailed from. What are peoples thoughts on styling options for this tree?

Super Leptospermum Dave. With that taper in the base it will be a cracker one day Ash

maybe tilt to the left ad shortend the top section back by about 1/2 then regrow the top

This is what I have also been thinking but at the same time hoping for an alternative. It would be a shame to loose any part of this tree IMO, however I think it may be needed to balance the tree.

Does anyone else have some ideas for this tree?

Dave I would let it grow vigorously for a while. That way if you do decide to chop any part it will have sufficient energy stored away to sprout profusely. It will have built more fine roots by then too. It will also give you a good chance to think about keeping or loosing the top section. The base of this is well worth the extra wait. Ash

Just an update of this tree. It would seem this Leptospermum is quite happy in it's new environment and is growing vigorously after only 3 months.
