G'day Wudyl,
You have the right idea. Just be really careful reducing the foliage on junipers this drastically. I have seen this result in the demise of good stock.
Cheers,
Leigh.

Hi there,
just a couple of things to think about.
Always have a plan in mind before cutting anything off. I mean cut and wire to achieve a certain perception as to how the finished tree will look.
As there are a lack of branches, what is the final outcome you were looking for.
By the photo, your wiring is very neat, however, especially on the lower section of the tree, it seems to be across the trunk on a perpendicular angle, rather than at 45 degrees. It is determined that 45 deg gives the best strength and holding ability.
What I do notice, is that you could safely bend the trunk to ensure your branches are on the outside of bends in the trunk. In other words put some extra movement in the trunk.
With the lack of branching it is a long term project unless you come up with something like a windswept style or literati.
Good luck and come up with a game plan before doing anything further
cheers
Dave

i do like the upright style informal and formal so im going to let it strengthen up straight for a while before getting it into something bigger to grow.
