Opodiphthera Eucalypti Progression...

Gday folks!

Please find attached some pics of my Opodiphthera eucalypti: I found it in March 2010 as rather raw - but interesting - stock. It has undergone a few changes since March, but I have largely let it grow unchecked: no trimming, no wiring and a lot of feeding. Yesterday (Xmas Day 2010) saw the final stage of its progression... :P

Enjoy!

Fly.

About 40 years ago we had a backyard tree with hundreds of these every year. I have not seen one since, they are quite magnificent caterpillars. We knew them by their common name, emperor gum caterpillar and emperor gum moth.

Beutiful Fly
It looks like the tree is inside. You do that just for the photoshoot I hope?

Gday Ken & Co!

You're correct: the 'tree' is inside for the Before pics, but it was only a branch we cut from one of the Red Box (E. polyanthemos) in our yard.

Thanks.
