This is the layer which i had taken from last season . It has really flourished. Today i have just noticed the roots coming out from its pot. not sure if i should repot & prune as It has already past bud burst .When styling I'm thinking to keep both trunks but not sure where to go with it. If its not too late. If any one has any id 's i would really apreciate it.

It looks vigorous enought that a light root prune should not harm it. I would start looking at which branches I would want to keep and trim them back a bick to start good ramification. Leave a couple of spare branches on at this stage in case you change your mind on the styling. Wire the branches that you are keeping now before they get too brittle.
As I can't see all sides I suggest you take it to your nearest bonsai club if you have one and get someone there to give you an opinion on the trunks.

Hi Petra you may get some more replies if you state what species of native it is and include some clearer photos - I didn't even realise it had 2 trunks

OK, I know nothing about natives. BUT.

If you want two trunks, they should start from ground level. Trust me.
What you have is a very good trunk, a very large branch that goes off funny, and then a lot of very little stuff.
Taper in the trunk means going from thick to fine by very gradual stages.
For my money, (which ain't much) you need one line, which gradually tapers - get ONE continuation of your trunk, and grow it thick, then cut it back. Then do it all agin. Don't worry too much about refinement until you have a good, complex, tapering trunk that has a lot of things happening, due to the growing, and cutting, and sustained nasty business. THEN you build branches, THEN you refine.

Slow, nasty and relentless - its all good.

Good luck - good start.

Hi Petra
I would not worry about giving a light root prune at this time of year on a Callistimon (I think it is)

lightly trim the tips if you need to or repot into a larger pot to give more room
Usual precautions apply in Seasol / water and out of direct sun and wind.

Branch selection can be done now and if you need youo can wire but check it often as natives are gorowing hard now and will bite in if you leave them too long

Thanks Gavin for your reply. Funny i had a feeling i may have to start both branches from the ground level. i must be getting back slowly in the swing of it all . ;)
Bougy Fan, may be if you enlarged the image you 'd of noticed the 2 trunks.

Ken , always appreciate your reply. I will pot into a larger pot now, thats what it needs. I didnt have a large pot at the time of first pot, ill do the light trim and move on to the next project. Now where'd i put the mulcher ....

Ooopps!  The Callistamon is a Captain Cook.
