I rescued this unknown Euc from a trail that is soon to be turned into a road.
I'm not too sure if it will make a good bonsai but it might make some good practice stock none the less.
As you can see from the first pic there wasnt much of a root ball and I had to cut off almost all of the tap root to get it out. It was growing in extreemly hard dry dirt.
Any ideas on what it might be and suggestions on how i might go about leaf reduction would be great.

This is a 'wattle' an Acacia you can tell by the phyllodes and the longitudinal main veins. I do not know what species it is but most of the species would be very difficult to transplant from a wild state like that loosing pretty much all of their water uptake with the loss of one main root. After collecting any material I wait until I have good evidence of strong growth before I worry about anything like leaf size or other training.

I noticed a lot of wilting when I got home thisafternoon, so I trimmed off more leaves to try and reduce the amunt of transpiration.
I'll do some research on wattles and see if i can get any clues on how to improve it's survival chances.
